Cities can be exhausting, however for me central London is my definition of the pursuit of happiness. I am back again in the big smoke at Trafalgar Square where there is a brand new hotel called Page 8. The building is stealthily spacious with 138 beautifully appointed rooms ranging from 17 to 34sqm.
It is a two-minute walk from Charing Cross Station. Being at Trafalgar square you have amazing access to galleries, the hotel is right next door to the National Portrait Gallery and not far from the famous Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus and Covent Garden. The location was one of the best reasons why I loved this hotel so much.
The journeys we make will rarely meet our expectations; they will challenge, confuse, surprise, and sometimes frustrate. Whether they’re worth it or not is up to us.
Reception
Staying in style is what Page 8 is all about. The wooden floors and neutral decor give a warm welcome to a modern luxury stay. For 2020, copper, beige and simple furniture are trending. With a city like London I always want to come into a hotel that oozes simplicity, it relaxes my mind.
The coffee house concept is what Page 8 prides itself on. The coffee looks and tastes delicious. If you like your coffee extra hot, like me, ask for that. You don’t have to be a guest to have coffee here.
Deluxe Double Room
Each floor is accessible only to guests staying here with a security key card. So I felt very safe. The interior is minimalistic with a lovely contrast of pattern carpet. The pristine white walls combined with the contrasting brass and copper decor makes for the perfect modern stay. The reason that the use of copper is an excellent material for realising design concepts is that it offers endless possibilities for working, either in its pure state or through its many alloys, including brass and bronze. Highly malleable, ductile and durable, it has a unique chromatic appeal thanks to its wide palette. This hotel will endure many guests staying here without looking exhausted in a few months. The king sized bed was comfortable and I had plenty of access to pillows.
I liked the small desk which was integrated into the window. The charging stations were tucked away and the office views opposite me was a nice reminder of where I was staying. The chair was super comfortable and stylish.
The room was very quiet considering I was in the heart of London.
The wardrobe space was large and I loved the big mirror. This is very important for someone like me regarding fashion and lifestyle appearances.
Deluxe Double Rooms come with a complimentary Mini Bar offering a variety of snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages for me to enjoy.
I loved the retro old style phone.
I had friends over, so having the access to Bluetooth Marshall Speakers created a nice mood.
Bathroom
I am a big fan of Co Bigelow Toiletries and more so with its endless accessibility. It was great not to see the tiny plastic bottles, but refillable bottles instead. The contrast of the copper and the marble effect interior design gave my bathroom stay a lovely feel-good factor.
Breakfast
Breakfast was simple but excellent in taste and presentation. There were add-on options to build either a basic breakfast of simple pastries or you could do what I did and have toasted bread with avocado, poached egg and salmon alongside fresh fruit with granola and yogurt. The wooden plate concept with neutral copper spoons gave it a very urban modern feel to the overall eating experience.
Conclusion
There is nowhere better than London, a city spoilt with cathedrals of hospitality, to enjoy this most indulgent of extracurriculars. From the final exits of famed guests to above and beyond service and good-spirited gossips. Page 8 Hotel is the right hotel for guests looking for a modern and restful stay. There is plenty of access to theatres, restaurants and endless amounts of shopping. Due to its location you can keep popping in and out to rejuvinate in such a full on entertaining city such as London.
The access of peaking out and looking at London in action at Trafalgar Square is very entertaining.
